Five houses have been demolished and the Unsafe Building Board is moving forward with four more in Knox County.

At their monthly meeting, the board discussed demolition projects that were completed.

A house at 305 S 4th Street, a house on S 3rd Street and Albert Street in Edwardsport were all torn down and lots cleaned up.

Houses at 302 Raymond Street and 304 W N State Street in Oaktown were also demolished.

Meanwhile a demolition is beginning at a house on W Jackson Street in Edwardsport this morning.

A house at 308 W College St in Sandborn was verified to be torn down.

Board members say that the owners have repeatedly said they would begin fixing the lot up, but no visible work has been done in three months.

Two houses in Wheatland and Decker were also verified for demolition.

Owners of 401 S Portland Street in Wheatland have not gotten into contact with the board and all letters have been returned to sender so the board is moving forward with tearing down the blighted property.

The house at 106 E Broadway Street in Decker has the same issue with multiple attempts to get into contact with the owners not panning out.

Recently, this year the house next door to this house in Decker was also torn down due to storm damage.
