Three Arrested in Animal Abuse Case

Posted on November 20th, 2018

Charges have been filed against three men accused of abusing animals.

Last week, we told you about a number of dogs being found dumped near Cannonball Bridge. Those dogs were discovered after an eyewitness alerted authorities.

All of those dogs were said to be in poor condition, with at least one having been physically mutilated.

Those animals were all taken to the Vincennes Animal Shelter to be treated.

Now, misdemeanor charges have been filed against three men in connection with the case.

According to Knox County Sheriff, both Brent Scolley and Christopher Ryan Smith have each been charged with six counts of animal cruelty. Gary Charest received those same charges, along with six counts of harboring non-immunized dogs.

Those charges were all filed by the Knox County Prosecutor’s Office following an investigation by the State Veterinarian’s Office.
