Indiana State Police have released the name of the woman shot to death by officers at a Sullivan County Hotel Thursday afternoon.

49-year-old Leslie Shayne Miller of Shelburn was shot to death after pointing a gun at officers at the Days Inn in Sullivan.

Preliminary autopsy results indicate Miller died from gunshot wounds to the chest.

Troopers were called to the Days Inn around 1:30 p.m. after staff at the hotel told police that Miller was making threats and refused to leave the motel when they asked her to do so.

Police say they spent nearly four hours trying to convince Miller to leave her hotel room. When she wouldn’t come out, troopers made entry into the room. Police say Miller raised a gun at officers, resulting in gunshots being exchanged.

Miller died at the scene. The shooting remains under investigation.
