A local miner has passed away last night, after an incident last week.

According to Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom, the man, who was from Freelandville, was operating a large haul truck at Bear Run Mine when it caught fire one week ago. The incident happened just before 4:00 a.m.

The man jumped from the truck and was attended to by mine personnel before being transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital. The man passed away Thursday evening.
