A new event is coming to Vincennes this weekend.

The local VFW Post 1157 will host their first ever Family Freedom Festival on Saturday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. The event will feature food, fun and games for the community to enjoy. To wrap up the event, the VFW will be showing the movie ‘Coco’ in the back hall of their facility at 6:00.

Mike Turner, President of the VFW Auxiliary, explains that part of the Freedom Festival will focus on safety.

The event will also feature giveaways every half-hour. Items being given away have been donated by various local businesses. During the event, the Auxiliary will be collected items for the Indiana Veterans Home and Homeless veterans. Items accepted include hygeine items, non-perishables and books.

The event is completely free and open to the public. The local VFW is located at 2401 Hart Street, just passed the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
