Rain Delays VU Water Tank Rehab

The rehabilitation of the water tower on the Vincennes University campus is facing a short delay.

Water Utilities General Manager Kirk Bouchie says recent rain, somewhere around seven inches, as delayed the beginning of the project, which will see the tower not only cleaned and further maintained, but also painted blue, with the Vincennes University logo added to the signage atop the tower.

Vincennes Water Utilities General Manager Kirk Bouchie says work to clean and paint the tower is expected to get underway in June.

Bouchie says in addition to cleaning and maintenancework, the tower will be repainted Blue and the Vincennes University logo will be added to the signage atop the tower.

He says the University has agreed to pay the $11,000 for the design change.

The last time the tower had any maintenance performed on the structure was 1997. Bouchie says the work is expected to last around 45 days.
