UPDATE: New Details Released in Child’s Death

The Vincennes Police Department has released new information in the death of 2-year-old Jaqreion Anderson.

Authorities responded to the report of an unresponsive child in the 500 block of Bowman Terrace just before 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. After efforts to resuscitate the child, Anderson was transferred to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he later died.

The boy was home with his siblings and his mother’s boyfriend, 29-year-old Laquentin A. Breeland at the time of the call. 

An investigation lead to Breeland being arrested by Vincennes Police Tuesday night. He is charged with reckless homicide, neglect of a dependent, and aggravated battery resulting in the death of a child less than 14 years of age. Breeland was booked into the Knox County Jail just after 10:00 p.m.

According to Knox County Coroner Brian Hagen, a forensic pathologist will perform an autopsy on the two-year-old this afternoon.
