A capitol improvement fund has officially been established to help upgrade the Knox County 911 system.
The County Commissioners unanimously approved the creation of the fund at their meeting Tuesday night. In essence, the fund needed to be created as a home for money coming from Fifth-Third Bank. That money will then be paid to AT&T for the installation of the Next Generation E-911 system.
The Next Generation E-911 will allow first responders in the county to more effectively respond to emergencies as they happen, including a more precise location and more information about the 911 call itself.
