Area Residents Pitch in to Help Local Families

Volunteers from various service clubs in Vincennes assisted in the preparation of Christmas Family Gift Boxes at Salvation Army Headquarters last night.

Captain Laura Lunnam reports the volunteers assembled and loaded 600 gift boxes containing food for families in need in less than an hour.

50 Volunteers including members Civitan, Kiwanis, Rotary and the Interact Club set a frentic pace in assembling and filling boxes with food in 48-minutes and 30-seconds.

Lunnam says that’s ahead of last year’s pace which saw the group put the boxes and goods together in about one hour. Lunnam there were more volunteers who turned out for last night’s effort.

The boxes will be distributed ahead of the Christmas Holiday at Salvation Army Headquarters located on North Second Street in Vincennes.

Lunnam thanked the workers for their assistance in making the Holiday a little brighter for families in need..
