Knox Co. Burn Ban Lifted

Posted on October 11th, 2017

The Burn Ban that had been in place in Knox County was officially lifted this morning.

The ban was put in place last Tuesday by the Knox County Commissioners because of the abnormally dry conditions our area was experiencing.

The Knox County Emergency Management Agency cited that the large amount of precipitation we’ve experienced over the past few days is sufficient for lifting the burn ban, as the danger for wildfires breaking out due to dry conditions has decreased.

The Knox County EMA did advise that taller vegetation could still likely catch on fire more easily, and caution is still advised when burning.
