Local Leaders Still Await Word on CCMG Funds

Posted on September 13th, 2017

City Engineer John Sprague told members of the Vincennes Board of Works earlier this week that they are awaiting word on the city’s Community Crossings grant application.

According to Sprague, they were initially told by INDOT that grants for road projects would be awarded in late August. Now the timeline has been pushed back to early fall.

Vincennes has applied for more than $1.6 million in state funding. The city had to put up a matching amount of 50% or $800,000 in order to be eligible for the grant.

Sprague says they are seeking funding to do several side streets in the city which are in need of re-paving. The largest of those projects is Shelby Street from 2nd to 15th Streets. The plan also calls for new street curbing as well.

Sprague indicated they had hoped to do some more street paving yet this year. If that doesn’t happen the work will carry over to next Spring.
